Four days in the Thar - a living fort, Sam dune sunsets and one night under the stars in a desert camp.
Jaisalmer is the one Rajasthani fort people still live inside, and it changes colour twice a day. You walk it with a guide in the morning, take the havelis and Gadisar lake at a slower pace, then head out to the dunes for a camel ride and a night in a camp far enough from town that the sky actually goes dark.
Every stop, stay and meal in the order you'll meet them. The line fills as you scroll.
Arrive by road or the overnight train and check in. Late afternoon walk up into Sonar Quila as the sandstone turns, finishing on a rooftop above the ramparts for dinner.
Gadisar lake first thing while the light is low, then Patwon ki Haveli and Salim Singh ki Haveli with a guide. The afternoon is free for the bazaar inside the fort walls.
A late-morning drive to Kuldhara, the abandoned village on the way west, then on to Sam. Camel ride across the dunes for sunset, dinner at the camp with folk musicians, and a night under canvas.
Sunrise over the dunes, breakfast at the camp, then the drive back to Jaisalmer or Jodhpur for onward travel.
The two things that decide whether a trip feels considered or improvised.

The questions travellers ask most about this journey.
Not very. The tents have proper beds and attached bathrooms with running hot water. What they do not have is reliable mobile signal, which most people count as the point.
Yes. It is the standard dune approach but we can swap it for a jeep transfer to the sunset point at no extra cost - just tell us in advance.
Dates, pace and stays can all be adjusted. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll rework the route.
