Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur — the full royal circuit with a night in the Thar desert.
Three fort cities, one desert camp and a lake palace, connected by a private car and a driver who has run this route for a decade. We deliberately front-load the monuments into the early morning and leave afternoons open, because Rajasthan in the middle of the day is for courtyards and shade. Every property on this itinerary is either a converted haveli or a heritage building.
Every stop, stay and meal in the order you'll meet them. The line fills as you scroll.
Met at Jaipur airport and driven to a converted haveli in the old city. Evening at leisure, with an optional walk to the Hawa Mahal for the floodlit facade.
Amber Fort at 8am before the crowds, then Jantar Mantar and the City Palace. Afternoon block-printing workshop at Bagru, followed by Johari Bazaar for jewellery and textiles.
A long but scenic drive west, stopping at the Ranakpur Jain temple complex with its 1,444 individually carved pillars. Arrive Jodhpur by evening.
Mehrangarh Fort on opening — among the best-preserved forts in India — then Jaswant Thada and a guided walk through the indigo lanes below the walls. Afternoon drive to Jaisalmer.
Morning in the Jaisalmer fort — still inhabited — and Patwon Ki Haveli. Late afternoon camel ride onto the Sam dunes for sunset, then folk music and dinner under the stars at camp.
Drive south-east to Udaipur, arriving mid-afternoon. Private boat on Lake Pichola at golden hour beneath the City Palace, then dinner on a rooftop facing the water.
City Palace and the Saheliyon Ki Bari gardens in the morning, then transfer to Udaipur airport.
The two things that decide whether a trip feels considered or improvised.

The questions travellers ask most about this journey.
Jaipur to Jodhpur is about six hours with the Ranakpur stop, and Jodhpur to Jaisalmer roughly five. We break every leg with planned stops — this is the main reason we run the route over seven days rather than five.
Permanent tented suites with attached bathrooms, running hot water, proper beds and electricity. It is glamping rather than roughing it.
Yes, though it adds a driving day. Most travellers fly into Jaipur and out of Udaipur, which is why we sequence it that way.
